Live LMS redesign, Moodle course development, and tutor enablement for a national youth programme.
Project Type: Real, paid engagement
Title: Moodle Learning Environment Redesign
Audience: Tutors and youth participants in a national youth programme
Role: LMS Specialist and Learning Designer
Tools: Moodle
Duration: 6 months (January–June 2024)
Selected course spaces lacked consistent structure, clear labels, and shared patterns for organizing resources and activities. This increased the effort required for learners to locate materials and made it harder for tutors to build and maintain courses using a shared standard.
Analysis
I consulted stakeholders and tutors, reviewed course spaces, and identified priorities for navigation, branding, content organization, activities, and tutor support. I used those findings to shape a demonstration shell and a repeatable course approach.
Created branded headers and clearer navigation for selected Moodle course spaces.
Developed a repeatable course architecture with consistent labels and content organization.
Built learning activities and assessments to broaden interaction beyond static resources.
Provided tutor guidance and coordinated with a backend programmer to support implementation.
Discover
Consulted stakeholders and tutors, reviewed selected course spaces, and identified priorities for navigation, structure, activities, and tutor support.
Prototype
Created a demonstration shell to test branded headers, clearer labels, and a repeatable course structure before wider implementation.
Build
Reorganized selected Moodle spaces and developed activities and assessments to expand the mix of learning experiences.
Enable
Provided tutors with practical guidance for maintaining their own Moodle spaces and coordinated with technical support during implementation.
The redesign produced clearer course structures, more consistent labels and visual elements, and a wider range of learning activities across selected spaces. Tutors also received a demonstration model and practical guidance they could reuse when developing their own courses.
Evidence boundary
The available project files document the redesign work and recommendations but do not include formal analytics or validated learning outcomes.
Reflection
The engagement reinforced the value of reusable templates, shared naming conventions, learner-view checks, and clear ownership rules when improving an LMS. These practices help tutors maintain course spaces and preserve consistency after handoff.
The live Moodle environment is not publicly accessible. This case study therefore uses screenshots and project documentation to show selected aspects of the redesign. A programme coordinator reference letter is available on request.
